Before this, 144 major corporations had left California or announced they were leaving.  But it's all good:  AB32 will get us all high-paying green jobs sorting each other's garbage.

A thought for the year ahead...

We are poised on the brink of a major change in government.

Our leaders currently in power are entertaining themselves with clowns on our dollar and standing to applaud our enemies at the heart of our Republic while the troubles of our country go unaddressed; our leaders poised to resume power, by our sweat and sacrifice, seem uncertain whether they want to behave any differently, or instead spend their resources taking care of their dwindling circle of peers at the expense of the people.

Our wounded and weakened, ignorant, vain, insular, narcissistic and unready President faces a year without the support of his party, an agenda at odds with both reality and the needs of his country, and no tactic to deal with it save reinforcing failure.

Our intellectual and artistic icons are digging themselves deeper into a more extreme and irrelevant ideological pit, becoming shriller and angrier as they realize the mudfooted commoners are not only no longer listening, but mocking them, and finding other voices both new and old to listen to.

Factions and groups that have grown rich at our expense refuse to realize the purse is empty, and demand that last penny that has to be in there somewhere.

And all the while our country's wounds, self-inflicted and inflicted by others, lay open.

It's going to be an interesting year.  It will probably, a lot of the time, be a scary and ugly one.

So I offer a thought, from a man who had seen times even worse than these:

Give me, my God, what you still have;

give me what no one asks for,

I do not ask for wealth, nor success,

nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,

that you cannot have any left.

Give me what people refuse to accept from you.

I want insecurity and disquietude;

Chris Dodd -- Took $1,000,000 "mortgage" from Angelo Mozilo and Countrywide

 while on the Senate banking committee to pay for Irish "cottage" — no charges

William "Cold Cash" Jefferson — Kickback money in his fridge — 
tried and convicted

Diane Feinstein — steered between 1.3 and 3 BILLION dollars in no-bid VA 

contracts to companies she and her husband had interests in — no charges

Maxine Waters helped her husband's bank -- Charged

Barney Frank -- Slept with Fannie Mae chairman he was supposed

 to be  regulating --No charges

Charlie Rangel -- Obtained rent-controlled NYC apartments — charges pending

Nancy Pelosi — steered over $200 million in no-bid government contracts to

companies she and her family have interests in — no charges.

Something seems out of balance here.  One of these things is obviously not like the other... what oh what could the difference be?

As a white man and de facto raaaaacist, I for one welcome the Democratic Party's return to its roots, and congratulate Ms. Pelosi for her willingness to reach across the aisle.

If you're black, no slack —

So... A Lame Duck Congress...?

Democrats run home early so they won't have to vote on real job-killing bills (their jobs).

So Obama, Reid and Pelosi, along with lesser and even dimmer Congressional lights like Jay ("Bush used psychological pressure on me") Rockefeller, Chris ("Waitress, there's a fly in my pants") Dodd and Barney (deleted out of sheer disgust -TBL) Frank are planning a sore-loser's frenzy of a lame duck session after the midterms, when the outgoing grifters think they will have nothing to lose.  Never mind that we don't want these bills and they KNOW we don't want these bills or they wouldn't be hiding from them.

Items back on the table include card check for union voters, federal voter registration, cap and trade, and all the pork low-rent thieves like Spector, Rangel and Bennett can carve up between them, to be doled out so their friends back home will take care of them in their dotage...

If,of course, they ever dare go back home...

Coulter, Limbaugh Defend Steele's Comments on Afghanistan...

Here's a thought: Michael Steele was tone-deaf, ill-considered and wrong to adopt the language and tactics of the Democrats, using Afghanistan for cheap political advantage while we have troops on the ground, in contact, in Afghanistan.

Unless, of course, in Michael Steele's world the GOP just isn't all that different from the Democrats...

What Michael Steele did was EXACTLY what the left did to Nixon over Vietnam. The litter wasn't even cleaned up from the inauguration before the war JFK began and LBJ escalated bcame 'Nixon's War' and they dumped everything from Gulf of Tonkin to Tet in his lap. It was wrong then and it's wrong now.

If conservatives want to score points on Afghanistan, what exactly will they say? That Afghanistan is not important enough to warrant the casualties? Then it didn't warrant the casualties we took there under Bush and the GOP. That the war is lost and we should pull out? That we should scale down to 2008 levels and watch Afghanistan crumble around our outposts? Substitute the last helicopter out of Kandahar for the last helicopter out of Bagdhad?

...Look, I hate writing this. I hate even having to approach defending Obama. But it's one thing to condemn Obama's ineptitude and another to assign him personal blame for a national endeavor that predates him. And THAT's what Democrats do, that's what Michael Steele did, and it's wrong. It a boneheaded and frankly hypocritical move that could backfire on the GOP.

Just the kind of move Michael Steele likes.

As a Democrat for over 30 years before I gave up on the party, I'm still on most of the mailing lists.

Funny thing, not one Independence Day e-mail to all us good Democrats from any of them.

Not from John Vogel at the DCCC.
Not from John Kerry.
Not from Rose Kapolczynski at Barbara Boxer's campaign.
Not from Nancy Pelosi.
Not from Joe Biden.
Not from my Congressman Howard Berman.

OBAMA SOLVES GULF COAST CRISIS...

...with exciting new "Oil for Clunkers" program!  The Administration is proposing to pile all the scrapped automobiles the government ordered destroyed under the "Cash for Clunkers" scheme on top of the out of control BP oil leak, using the millions of tons of wasted machinery to block the upflow of oil.

"It will be the mother of all junk shots," explained Obama during a brief stop at the nineteenth hole.

"The Administration's plan is to use a manufactured crisis to resolve a manufactured crisis," said WH Spokesman Robert Gibss.  "Sure, it's ugly as hell, but you have to remember that the White House is nowhere near Louisiana, and anyway, they voted for a Republican governor so they really had to expect this."

When reporters suggested this plan might be a hasty and ill-conceived PR stunt, Gibbs disagreed. " I can assure you with complete accuracy that we have given this plan as much thought and effort as we gave the Tennessee flood relief effort."

Evil Genius Dick Cheney Throws CA GOP Primary to Steve Poizner -- Endorses Meg Whitman!

It's now official: Meg Whitman cannot win the race for Governor in California.  Cheney's endorsement will make her toxic to the independents and wavering Democrats the GOP needs to win the governorship in CA.


I'm not sure what the mechanism behind this decision  is, but it works for Poizner any way you can posit it:


Cheney's endorsement is simply bought and paid for: plain old business as usual corrupt politics?


An embittered Cheney sticking a finger in the eye of the party he feels abandoned him., and Meg Whitman is the best way to pay the GOP back?


An act  of careless inconsideration, from a man who doesn't have a rep for same?


Or a brilliant piece of counterintuitive strategy from the Evil Schemer Mastermind of theVRWC, who knows just what it will take to ruin Whitman's chances?

Followoing polls showing that just 42% of the Jews who voted for Obama would vote for him today,  Obama addressed the issue before an enthusiastic crowd in Berlin, saying:

and one 'SIEG HEIL' to ME! WONDERFUL MEEEEEEE....!"

Administration staffers were quick to clarify the President's remarks.  Rahm Emanuel went before the press to explain:

"We really screwed up the messaging.  Folks, the armbands are optional, and won't cost you one penny more in taxes!"

Arlen Specter Supports GOP!

Now trailing Sestak in  the PA Dem senatorial primary, the nasty ole backstabber has forced the Democrats to pour buckets of  money and manpower into a race in what has been a traditionally safe Democrat state in recent years.

Between Specter and the Tim Burns lead in Kickback Jack Murtha's fief,  Pennsylvania is becoming a deep money sink for an embattled party facing challenges nationwide.

So don't give up the ship, Arlen! You have not yet begun to fight!
