I am waiting for a confirmation I hope will come through on the Obama Quote, but I have run into several sources claiming it is an urban legend/fabrication.  Therefore I am withdrawing the post pending said verification.

One thing is already clear in all this: I screwed up.  I had one fact, that of Obama's reprehensible insurance proposal, and on that basis I assumed the accuracy of a second statement without confirming its accuracy myself.  I could do a lot of weasel-wording here, talking about 'truthiness' or 'fake but accurate' but regardless of my personal beliefs as to whether or not Obama is capable of making such a statement, regardless of whether I get that confirmation at this point, I did not do my homework here, and for that I apologize to my readers.  Do better next time.

However, the Obama proposal to have veterans pay for war wounds out of their own personal insurance is absolutely real.

"Byrd was not just a "casual" member of the KKK for a short period of time.  He officially joined the Klan in 1942.  He was a Kleagle, basically a recruiter convincing others to join the Klan.  Byrd himself bragged that he had recruited over 150 members for his local chapter.  And while Byrd himself worked very hard to convince others to join the Klan, no one recruited him.  He was the one that initiated contact with the Klan, according to his own autobiography, after seeing a newspaper ad.  Joining the Klan was all Byrd's idea from the get-go.  They must have really seen eye to eye, because within a few years his local chapter elected him Exalted Cyclops.

Byrd publically claimed he left the Klan in 1943, but this is a highly dubious claim at best, especially given that in 1945 he wrote a letter to Mississippi’s Senator Theodore Bilbo stating he would never "fight in the armed forces with a Negro at my side".  Then later in 1947 he wrote a letter to Dr. Samuel Green, the Imperial Wizard of the Klan at the time, in which he stated “The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.”

In 1964 Byrd fillibustered the Civil Rights Act for more than 14 hours, during that time he made the argument that the founders did not intend that the words "All men are created equally" in the Declaration of Independence were meant to be interpreted literally.   “Men and races of men differ in appearance, ways, physical power, mental capacity, creativity, and vision".

Also during this fillibuster Byrd went on to introduce a “study” from the book The Mind of Primitive Man that stated that white people’s brains weighed a few grams more than black people’s brains, and that whites were thus more intelligent.  He even cited so called scriptural support for his segregationist views.  All of this a full 21 years after he had supposedly "broken all ties" with the Klan.

In 1968 Byrd contacted the FBI, suggesting he give a speech condemning Dr. Martin Luther King on the floor of the Senate.  The FBI declined.

Byrd is also the only Senator to have voted against both African American nominees to the supreme court, both a liberal (Marshall) and a conservative (Thomas).  Since he voted against both, it's hard to imagine that it was political ideology that was his motivation.

Even as late as 2001, during a television interview Byrd used the n word repeatedly, and later had to apologize.  He was referring to people as "white (expletive deleted) " several times thoughout the interview.  He later claimed it was just an "expression" from his childhood.*

Somehow, methinks the MSM will give this a big .. well, whitewash, if you'll forgive the obvious pun."

Henry Waxman (D-Weekly World News) Grovels Before Corporate Robber Barons, Cancels Health Care Show Trials!

Henry Waxman, California Democrat Congressman, former Star Trek salt vampire, and co-sponsor of the Cap and Trade legislation is reported to have cancelled his planned show trials/hearings for the corporate CEO's who published K-9 documents listing the billions of dollars in losses they are going to take as a result of the Democrats' Obamacare midnight health care bill.  Waxman had claimed the notices were a deliberate attempt to discredit President Obama and his legislation.

Speculation on the Hill is that his crack team of Democratic Congressional staffers reminded the Democratic Congressman that he voted for the bill requiring the publication of said notices following the criminal collapse of major Demnocrat donor Enron.

More informed speculation centered around Waxman's fear that the CEO's would bring dog whistles whose high pitched notes would disorient the congressman, causing him to fly erratically and bump into walls in front of the C-SPAN cameras...

California Assembly Dem Candidate Runs Against Teabaggers... in his own party!

This is the flyer Democratic State Assembly Candidate Mike Gatto is sending out to thousands of voters in his district.  For the record, he is a protege of CA Dem Congressman Brad Sherman, who laughed in his constituents' faces when they asked him if he'd read the health bill before voting on it,  so you know what Mikey considers competent public service...

Gatto is running in the primary for the June special election, voting to be held tomorrow.   Give his office a call and tell them how much you admire their respect for the voters.  I'm sure they have nothing better to do for the  next day or so than talk to you...

BTW, the reason he talks about his Daily News endorsement (much the smallest of LA's two papers) is because the LA Times described the entire Democratic slate as "indistinguishable" from the Sacramento incumbents currently bankrupting the state...

"Look at this, Specialist, you have over-tightened the lug nut on this tire and stripped the threads.  This is not work  to standard and is unacceptable."


"Top, I made a mistake and I will fix it immediately."


Now back in my day, over the hood of a jeep, the conversation would have gone something like this:


"Fuck! Fucking Fucker's Fucking Fucked!  Fucker!"


"Fuck me..."


If memory serves, this brings to something like 50 the number of  Democrats nationwide cutting and running on their own country, through retirement or resignation...
