An Open Letter to Governor Walker

I cannot urge you strongly enough to resist the urge to offer or accept any sort of 'compromise' with the absconding Democrats on the unions or any other issue. It would be the equivalent of offering a 'compromise' to a thug holding hostages in a robbed liquor store. The only viable response to their conduct is uncompromising resistance.

What happens in Wisconsin will set the tone for political relations in the states and between the states and DC for years to come. Please stand strong, for your citizens, your party and your country.

Obama Budget Tragedy!

Following the White House release of a budget that would single-handedly increase the national deficit by over 7 trillion dollars, despite Obama's promises to practice fiscal responsibility, medical authorities today pronounced the Obama Administration dead on arrival.

"They didn't even try to take care of themselves," complained the Medical Examiner, blaming the Adminstration's passing on its bloated and indulgent lifestyle. "What, they couldn't even release this stiff on a Friday or weekend like they did with everything else they've done?"

Obama budget being carried out for transport to an undisclosed Virginia landfill where it will lie in State until the Administration thinks no one is looking.

I am waiting for a confirmation I hope will come through on the Obama Quote, but I have run into several sources claiming it is an urban legend/fabrication. Therefore I am withdrawing the post pending said verification.

One thing is already clear in all this: I screwed up. I had one fact, that of Obama's reprehensible insurance proposal, and on that basis I assumed the accuracy of a second statement without confirming its accuracy myself. I could do a lot of weasel-wording here, talking about 'truthiness' or 'fake but accurate' but regardless of my personal beliefs as to whether or not Obama is capable of making such a statement, regardless of whether I get that confirmation at this point, I did not do my homework here, and for that I apologize to my readers. Do better next time.

However, the Obama proposal to have veterans pay for war wounds out of their own personal insurance is absolutely real.

Oh, Crap.

Blows Off Dinner Honoring Law Enforcement, Firefighters

in His Own District

Longtime Congressional incumbent Brad Sherman (D. - 27th District, CA) has been keeping a low profile this election year. Save for a couple of carefully scripted Potemkin Town Halls in front of pre-packed safe crowds of union members and government workers, he's been largely invisible in his district.

He continues to refuse to debate his Republican challenger, Mark Reed.

He has little or no visible ground game in his district.

Now he has blown off an annual event, the Woodland Hills American Legion dinner honoring the law-enforcement and fire-fighters of the year in the community, that he had committed to attend.

Mr. Sherman seems to have a problem with meeting the voters of his district this year.

Howard Berman (D., CA-28) Bails on L.A. Candidates' Forum

...in spite of previous commitment to appear.

Berman's office cited Berman's need to remain in D.C. on 'legislative requirements.' In light of the laughably superficial series of bills being scheduled while the Dem leadership puts off votes on taxation, DISCLOSE, union voting and other pressing issues, we can only assume that Berman understands that those post offices won't simply name themselves. There are also rumors that Berman's Foreign Affairs committee has booked Colbert for an encore engagement...

"where's Howard?"

It remains to be seen whether Berman's busy legislative schedule will keep him from his scheduled October 20th debate with opponent Merlin Froyd as well....
