Over the years, Hollywood has produced a slew of sexy movies. These movies may be dramas, comedies, documentaries or anything in between. Some of the sexiest films in Hollywood.
Sexy Hollywood movies may also include a hefty dose of humor in them. These films include all of the ''American Pie'' comedies, including 2009's "American Pie Presents: The Book of Love," the ''Van Wilder'' film franchise, including 2009's ''Van Wilder: Freshman Year'' and recently, 2010's ''Hot Tub Time Machine'' and "Love and Other Drugs," which features some steamy scenes between Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood have bared all for sexy movies. Angelina Jolie has appeared topless in several films, including 1996's ''Foxfire'' and 1999's ''Pushing Tin.'' Jolie has also appeared nude in the movies ''Original Sin'' and ''Taking Lives.'' She's shown some "minor onscreen nudity" in the 2008 films ''Wanted'' and ''Changeling.'' Other recognizable actresses who've appeared nude or partially nude in sexy Hollywood movies include Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet.
As for the men, only a handful of well-known actors have gone "Full Monty" on film. They include Ewan McGregor in ''Trainspotting'' and ''The Pillow Book,'' Harvey Keitel in ''Bad Leiutenant'' and ''The Piano'' and Colin Farrell. Farrell has filmed several "full frontal" scenes, but they were all cut, including nude scenes in ''A Home at the End of the World'' and ''Alexander.'' Farrell and actor James Franco have both shown their posteriors - Farrell in ''Hart's War'' and ''Ask the Dust;'' Franco in such films as ''Sonny'' in 2002 and ''Milk'' in 2008.
When one thinks of the term "erotic film," it may call to mind pornography. Erotic films, however, aren't necessarily porn. While they do typically include nudity and sex, they may not be quite so as explicit as porn. Erotic films are not new to the movie industry - the genre's history dates back decades, to the beginning of film, in fact.
According to Filmsite.org, several films that could be classified as "erotic" surfaced in the late 1800s. French filmmakers offered erotic movies that included nude scenes and strip teases. Most of these early erotic films were short - some only seconds long - and they contained only brief images of nudity.
The first feature-length "sex film" in America was 1913's "Traffic in Souls." Other racy American films began to surface in the years that followed, including "The Inside of the White Slave Traffic," "Damaged Goods" and "The Sex Lure." Filmsite.org says the majority of these so-called "vice films" dealt with the "historical theme" of prostitution.
In the 1920s, the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America began to crack down on erotic films, establishing a code of sorts that included specific "restrictions and guidelines" for filmmakers. The "don'ts" included no "suggestive nudity or perversion, lustful kissing, drugs, profane swearing or brutal violence, rape or attempted rape."
