The Most Powerful Banker You've Never Heard of

Lewis Kaden is the ultimate behind-the-scenes power player. Lobbying the White House for Citi may be his biggest role yet.

Lewis B. Kaden doesn't stand out among the high-powered executives on Citigroup's (C) organizational chart. He's one of three people who carry the title of vice-chairman, and he doesn't run a big revenue-generating business such as investment or retail banking. Kaden's official duties are largely administrative—human resources, government affairs, and philanthropy among them.

sexual predator Keith Ogunsola

A science teacher guilty of French-kissing a 14-year-old and quizzing his students about oral sex has managed to avoid jail time, because of a heart condition.

Keith Ogunsola, 44, is a married father and a chemistry teacher at a high school in Ilford, England. His 12-week jail sentence for sexual assault was postponed for 12 months, after Judge Martyn Zeidman read into the teacher's medical reports.

"Certainly what you have done doesn't deserve a death sentence," Zeidman told the English courtroom, according to the Daily Mail. "I'm just persuaded that it would be right in the circumstances of this case to suspend the sentence of imprisonment."

A jury convicted Ogunsola of sexual assault on a young girl, which took place on Feb. 27 of last year, but cleared him of two counts of indecent assault and attempted sexual assault.

The Daily Mail reported that Ogunsola's 14-year-old victim told the courtroom, "He pulled me close and then kissed me, and put his tongue in my mouth. I pushed him away."

According to the Daily Mail, Ogunsola denies molesting any of his students, claiming that he was popular with girls at the Ilford school, and received cards as well as a bouquet of flowers from his accusers on Valentine's Day.

Sell kiss

http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/4715961/PL126Kids-kissing-Posters_Full.jpgIn a unique business enterprise, a 24 year-old single Australian guy is selling smooches for a dollar.

Lachlan Christie, 24, is selling kisses outside the Queen Victoria Building for almost two weeks now, and usually aims to make 5 to 10 dollars every day.

The street performer, claims it to be part of a social experiment, "I'm doing it as a social experiment to get a chance to see people's reactions," he was quoted by The Herald Sun.
http://collect-images.appspot.com/images/kisses/kiss.jpg

"It's mainly for the reaction ... to break down boundaries and challenge social norms," he added.

"I've sold three kisses in the past 50 minutes," he claimed. But added that women were quite reluctant to receive kisses on the lips.

"I want some brave girls to come up," he said. Presently single, he denies he is fishing for a girlfriend.

"A lot of people want to give me money but don't want a kiss. Once I get more well known, hopefully business will boom. It's great toeing the line of whether people think you're serious or not."

Lachlan is apparently inspired by Sydney's Free Hugs Man, who is known by the pseudonym Juan Mann.

The "Free Hugs" movement started at Pitt St Mall in 2004, which later became a rage worldwide.

Goodnight weekend

making homemade tabouli, originally uploaded by daniellehampton.

Well, I am about to say goodnight to another great weekend that I really don't want to end...but I guess in order to appreciate them so much work is necessary. This photo I added is of the tabouli I made for Hank and me today, it was truly delicious and already almost devoured. Approved by both Hank and Dustin, so you know it's good!

I already blogged earlier today, and I was just heading out to see "The Time Traveler's Wife" with my mother-in-law and Brooke. I had high expectations for the film, but I wish I wouldn't have, because there is no way the film could have ever lived up to the book. The film was definitely entertaining, but because it left out so much of the book, I felt the characters weren't developed enough and their relationship didn't have the same depth that made the novel so agonizingly upsetting. I still recommend that you see the movie, but take it for what it is; a watered down version of an amazing book. I do love Rachel McAdams though, in any role she plays, so that helped a lot. She is a true beauty. I do have to make note though, of the crazy environment inside the theater. I met Hank's mom and sister there, and they had already gotten seats by the time I arrived. When I walked into the theater I knew it probably wasn't going to be the best experience because it was filled to the brim with senior citizens. Now don't get me wrong, I love old people. I'm not one of those people who really get annoyed by them...I usually find them endearing and adorable. But going to a movie at noon on a Sunday basically means you can count on a theater of them. I sat down and pretty soon after that the previews began, and I started to hear a "whoosh, whoosh" sound every five seconds or so. It took me a moment to figure it out, but the guy in front of us was on an oxygen tank and the "whooshing" sound was the sound of oxygen getting sucked into his nose via the tube. The sound started to drive me crazy because it was like clockwork obviously, every breath he took there was a "whoosh, whoosh," and I was fixated on that...I couldn't focus on anything else. I decided I was going to move and sit on the other side of Hank's mom, so I did...only to still hear the oxygen tank. Soon that sound was accompanied by a very loud buzzing sound coming from the woman next to me. For about 20 minutes I thought it was her phone constantly vibrating but then I looked over and noticed she had a semi-large hand held fan! Yes, this lady was cooling her and her daughter off while they watched the movie...and it was the most annoying thing I've ever heard. I am definitely not a complainer, and I always try to make the best of situations...but this was way too much. Oxygen tank man on one side, hand held fan lady on the other, and all I wanted to do was watch this movie I'd been anticipating for months. I feel like maybe I didn't love the film because I was in theater hell, so I feel like I may try to see it again soon.

ANYWAY, after the movie I went food shopping at New Frontiers, picked up some things for the week and came home and started cooking food for my lunches this week. Afterward Hank had Matt and Dustin over for sports and hangouts, and I did some housecleaning. Now I'm relaxing, about to go to bed and not super stoked on work tomorrow. I keep thinking about the 3 day weekend coming up next weekend and that's helping me stay positive. And Emily and I are currently planning my NY trip in October (I'll know more later this week) and I am so stoked. While she is at work during the week I am going to try and take the train for a day train into NJ to visit some of my childhood friends which I am super pumped about too. I've kept in touch with so many of them, and it's going to be so fun to see them.

Alright, enough blogging for tonight. Goodnight everyone.

antioxidant breakfast! yum!

antioxidant breakfast! yum!

Good morning! I had planned on sleeping in late but my body didn't like that idea so I've been up for a long time, already worked out, and I'll be heading back out to the movie theater to see "The Time Traveler's Wife" in a minute. I posted about it before, but I love love loved the book so I am hoping the movie lives up to it.

Happy Sunday everyone!

oh, and that photo is one of my favorite breakfasts - Ezekial cinnamon raisin toast with Trader Joe's almond butter and Trader Joe's organic fruit spread (this is a mix of the rasberry and superfruit flavors), and blueberries! YUM.

Man up, nancy...

And I think we've found Sarah's new theme song...

if I was a ZOMBIE

if I was a ZOMBIE, originally uploaded by daniellehampton.

Hank said, "so this is what you do with your free time?" Haha. I guess. I was bored today and editing some band photos so I made this little gem. It's me, supposedly looking like a zombie. And I promise I won't post another one of these stupid photos from this point on. ;)

Today was a fun day though. Hank's mom and sister picked us up bright and early and we did estate sales all morning. I'm so weird and I can't stand touching strange, dirty things (I have even grown to really, really dislike thrift stores) so it's hard for me when the some of the houses just put weird junk out. Hank found a cute table though, Hank's mom got this cool 1950s chair, and Brooke got this Marilyn Monroe thing she loved. Oh, and Hank also got some Ping golf clubs for $1. One of the drivers alone is worth $200 plus so all in all it was a success and fun to just hang out anyway. We did Hugo's for lunch, then I came home and watched "Hard Candy," a totally weird and disturbing movie starring Ellen Page, who I thought did an excellent job with her role. After relaxing all day I went to the gym for cardio and legs. When I got home we went and saw District 9 and I actually liked it, despite hearing many bad reviews. Call me crazy, but I could totally see something like that happening, especially with America's mentality about keeping anything alien or foreign out. Very interesting social/political commentary lurking between the lines. There was also a love story buried in there too which surfaced from time to time. If you like alien movies like me, then you'll like this film.

So tomorrow I will be sleeping in late and loving every second of it. At noon I'm going to see "The Time Traveler's Wife," which I am so, so excited about! Hank is spending the day golfing and then I'll be making dinner and doing some baking. Sunday is probably my most favorite day of the week and I think tomorrow will be exceptionally great! Next weekend is a three day weekend too, so knowing that makes this weekend that much sweeter and the work week less ominous.

I hope all of you have had a restful and fun weekend so far!

With a track record like this, how can you not trust the government to fix the economy?

From Gary and Connie, via Duane Buckley:

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - they've had 234 years to get it right; it is broke, and even though heavily subsidized, it can't compete with private sector FedExp and UPS services. The U.S. Postal Service will lose over $7 BILLION this year and will require yet another "bailout."

Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - they've had 71 years to get it right; it is broke. Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - they've had 39 years to get it right; it is broke. Together Fannie and Freddie have now led the entire world into the worst economic collapse in 80 years.

The War on Poverty was started in 1964 - they've had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our hard earned money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - they've had 44 years to get it right; they are both broke; and now our government dares to mention them as models for all US health care.

AMTRAK was established in 1970 - they've had 39 years to get it right; last year they bailed it out as it continues to run at a loss!

This year, a trillion dollars was committed in the massive political payoff called the Stimulus Bill of 2009; it shows NO sign of working; it's been used to increase the size of governments across America, and raise government salaries while the rest of us suffer from economic hardships. It has yet to create a single new private sector job. Our national debt projections (approaching $10 trillion) have increased 400% in the last six months.

"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009 - - after 80% of the cars purchased turned out to be produced by foreign companies, and dealers nationwide are buried under bureaucratic paperwork demanded by a government that is not yet paying them what was promised.

So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that each and every "service" shoved down our throats by an over-reaching government turns into disaster, how could any informed American trust our government to run or even set policies for America's health care system - - 17% of our economy?

Maybe each of us has a personal responsibility to let others in on this brilliant record before 2010, and then help remove from office those who are voting to destroy capitalism and destroy our grandchildren's future.

The first teenager to be jailed

http://www.julia-kim.com/files/gimgs/3_teenage01.jpg
A British teenager became the first person to be jailed in the country for bullying on a social networking site after posting a death
threat on Facebook. Keeley Houghton, 18, cried as she was sentenced to three months in a young offenders' institution after pleading guilty for harassing Emily Moore, the Telegraph reported. She was also given a restraining order banning her from contacting Emily in person, via the internet or in any other manner for five years.

District judge Bruce while convicting Houghton said, "Since Emily Moore was 14 you have waged compelling threats and violent abuse towards her. Bullies are by their nature are cowards, in school and society. The evil, odious effects of being bullied stay with you for life. On this day you did an act of gratuitous nastiness to satisfy your own twisted nature," he said.

Houghton had posted she would kill Moore, whom she had bullied for four years since they were at school together. People have previously been jailed for harassment and stalking on social networking sites but she is first to be jailed for bullying via the internet, the newspaper said.

Two days before making the threat Houghton had approached Emily as she enjoyed a quiet drink with her boyfriend in The Vault Inn Pub in Malvern, Worcs, and put her arm around her. Sara Stock, prosecuting, told Worcester Magistrates Court: "When Emily was sitting on her own the defendant came over and sat next to her and asked her 'Are you Emily Moore? Can I have a huggle?'."
http://extension.unh.edu/news/graphics/bully1.jpg
When Moore told Houghton, who is unemployed, to leave her alone or she would call the police, the bully replied: "I'll give you something to ring the police about." The court heard Houghton, of Malvern, had victimised Emily for four years and had two previous convictions for her vendetta.

In 2005 she was convicted of assaulting Moore as she walked home from school and was subsequently expelled from school. Two years later, she was convicted of causing criminal damage to Moore's home after kicking her front door.

The court heard Houghton claimed she wrote the death threats while she was drunk late at night and had no memory of it. But when police examined internet records they discovered Houghton wrote the comments at 4pm on July 12 and kept them on her Facebook page for 24 hours.
