Female paid less.
Women seem to be doing better than men in their work life, but only in terms of progressing to higher offices and not when measured by
the size of their respective pay packets, a new survey has found.
While female executives reach senior positions faster than men, the fairer sex is getting paid comparatively less, according to a survey conducted by the job website Experteer across all the industries in the UK.
The imbalance is most pronounced in the media industry, where female executives are paid a massive 34% less despite attaining top executive roles three years earlier than the male executives, the survey said.
On an average, across all the industries women reach senior levels three to four years earlier, but get 7% less remuneration than their male counterparts.
The survey also found that the women are far less likely to hold onto the senior positions than the male executives, despite their faster journey to the upper echelons of corporate world.
The male-female ratio too keep on getting skewed against women as the level of seniority progresses.
The survey found that there was one female executive for every 10 male executive, on an average, the ratio was one woman for every 10 men in the position of Managing Director of a mid-sized company.
