The Mind Boggles...

Democratic shill Mark Halperin thinks he knows exactly what Obama needs to get his mojo back...a little "luck" in the form of a terrorist attack or some other national tragedy.

Really.

Is there anyone — even Chris Matthews or Joy Behar — who can even imagine this scene:

— with Barack Obama standing in George Bush's place?

That kind of 'luck' we don't need... and it won't save Barack Obama.

Ahhhhhh...

Texas Rangers MLB Franchise files for bankruptcy! Bush mysteriously not blamed...

Debtors say they are being screwed by interim financing deal reached with Major League Baseball.

Oddly, although George W. Bush was a previous owner for the team, no one has gotten around to blaming him for the failures of the owners who followed him....

"Wow, I rememorize when that team could sell tickets...
Miss me yet?"

No Congressional hearings have been called, no Congressman damning the GOP for the bankruptcy on the Sunday talk shows, no ignorant David Brooks editorials have been published.  Pundits are baffled by the sudden silence...

"Jug-eared sumbitch is losing a step every f***in' day..."

Barack Obama: "George Bush has been sneaking back into Washington...

...and adding stuff to the laws'n'stuff while the decent folk were sleeping."  Take for example this passage from his "discussion" with the GOP congressmembers  that somehow didn't get a lot of press...

"If you look at the package that we've presented -- and there's some stray cats and dogs that got in there that we were eliminating, we were in the process of eliminating. For example, we said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people if you can have your -- if you want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you're not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge."

Now on earth could that have happened if EEEEEVILE GEORGE BUSH hadn't been sneaking back into the Congressmen's offices by night  and adding stuff when nobody was looking?  Surely the Democrats of the most open and transparent Administration EVER would NEVER have been going behind the back of Barack Obama to undercut his agenda!  Why, he's the President!
"Look harder, everyone!  George Bush could be anywhere!"
And don't tell me George Bush wouldn't pull a stunt like that.  Look at all the other things he's done when Barack Obama wasn't looking:

George Bush pimped Barney Frank to  the head of Fannie Mae and forced that poor misunderstood gay man to hawk  his garbage, unrecoverable mortgages to the banks.

He threatened to kill Chris Dodd's kitten unless he took that Countrywide mortgage.

George Bush hacked the .doc file to the Stimulus Bill and changed the words 'DON'T spend' to 'spend'...every time.

He broke into the Nancy Pelosi's office on Christmas Eve and stole the real vote tallies on the Health Care Bill.  The truth is, NO Democrat voted for it ('C'mon, guys, we haven't even read this turkey!'), but George Bush is just that evil.

When Barack Obama was pondering the future of a peaceful Afghanistan, George Bush locked him out in the Rose Garden and used his bootleg Presidential seal to send 35,000 more troops to Afghanistan.  (He would have sent the whole 40,000 but Dick Cheney convinced him fiddling with the number would piss off the left AND the right).
"Dammit, Bush, you put those Marines down right this minute!"

When Obama visited Japan, Bush told him to bend over and pretend to barf on the Emperor's shoes.
"They really love that kind of down-home humoratin'!"

The man's like a freaking Texas Ninja!  There's just no keeping him out!  Plainly, George Bush should never be allowed anywhere near Washington DC or the Obama White House again.   Those folks are just too damned naive and impressionable...

Joe Scarborough on Hoffman/NY-23

Joe Scarborough (yes, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough) has an interesting piece up over at National Review on the Hoffman/Scoffalaza race in New York.

But he runs one thing by them that pegs the bullshit meter:

“It used to infuriate me when Republican leaders from the House and Senate would come on television and defend President Bush for spending too much money, only to complain about Bush’s big spending and recklessness off-air in the green room,” says Scarborough. “They were blindly following. That’s why we got destroyed in 2006 and 2008. You would think that these people would learn their lesson. It’s clear, however, that the GOP leadership on the Hill hasn’t learned from their mistakes.”

Now, considering the GOP had been on a pork binge since Newt got them their majority, and even given GW's sadly liberal fiscal inclinations, the notion that they were "blindly following" is, what's the term, utter bilge.

First off, the White House can't spend one penny that doesn't come to them from Congress.

Second, we all laughed when Jay Rockefeller (D-Pathetic) tried to claim that Bush FORCED him to vote 'yes' on Iraq by using "psychological pressure." Are we now expected to believe that the entire GOP leadership carried on like some silent movie melodrama?

"No, no, Mistah, Pres'dent, y'all are fah too fo'ceful for poor little me!
Don't make me send you that awful spendin' bill...!"

Uh. Huh.

Now come on, Joe. Look, we get it, you're at MSNBC, where everyvbody who's ANYbody knows that the only difference between GW and the Antichrist is that the Antichrist is taller (and, we now know, impeccably creased). But you were a Congressman, you know how business was done there. Which makes more sense, your 'blindly following' scenario or something like this:

House GOP leader: "Ah, Jesus, Mr. President, we're really getting beat up over that whole "support Iraq" thing. You gotta give us something to take back to our districts. Now here's what we need to hold onto the Farm Belt..."

The haste with which the GOP leadership is so eager to shove all its own missteps and mistakes into Bush's lap is simply unseemly. There's no need to add to the embarassment, even if you do work for a network with a smaller audience than some of the blogs I read...
